Finding trusted dog care shouldn't be so difficult. I (Sarah) was driving to Manchester one day with my German Shepherd, thinking about what I was going to do when I went on holiday as my usual kennels was booked up. I suddenly thought... why isn't there a website where everything dog care is in one place? I got on the phone to Georgia that evening, and The Bark Mark was created from there.

As dog owners ourselves, we know how much time and effort can go into finding the right person to care for your dog. Whether you're looking for a dog walker, home boarder, daycare, groomer or another dog care professional, it can mean searching through different websites, social media pages, reviews and recommendations, before you feel confident enough to make a decision.

We wanted to change this and bring everyone into one trusted place. Every professional who displays the Bark Mark Verified badge has gone through our independent verification process, where we check important documentation relevant to their service. This includes insurance, DBS checks and canine first aid certificates.

There are so many brilliant businesses who invest in their business, training and the welfare of the dogs that they care for, and we believe they deserve to be recognised for that. We also believe as owners, the important information you need to know should be easier to find. Our mission is to bring everything dog care into one place, while building a community where professionalism, transparency and animal welfare are valued.

We are starting out locally in Cheshire West and Chester, with a big ambition for the future. We want to become a nationally recognised name that dog owners actively look for when choosing dog care, and also be a badge that professionals are proud to display.

We want to create a future where the question isn't 'How do I know I can trust them?' It's simply: 'Are they Bark Mark verified?'

About Sarah

I’m Sarah, one half of The Bark Mark.
I’ve always been a huge dog lover; my Labradoodle and German Shepherd are very much at the centre of my life along with my 2-year-old daughter and my husband, Sam. We have always enjoyed travelling but we also love going away in the UK, as the dogs love exploring new places!

My dogs have been there for some of my favourite memories, both personally and professionally, and they have inspired so much along the way. My labradoodle was the reason I set up my dog walking business, Sarah The Dog Carer, 9 years ago, and I am incredibly proud of where that journey has taken me. Then, in early 2026, I was driving my German Shepherd to Manchester, when the idea for The Bark Mark came to me.

It’s funny to think that something which started as an idea on a drive could become something that Georgia and I are now building together and I’m excited to see where we can take it.

I hope that we can make a difference in the industry and look back one day and think, “We actually did it.”

About Georgia

I’m Georgia, the other half of The Bark Mark.

My journey with dogs started around 8 years ago, when I was looking for the right care for my own dog, Flossie. After struggling to find exactly what I was looking for, I decided to turn my love for animals into something of my own, and that’s where my journey into dog walking began.

Fast forward 8 years and animals are very much at the heart of my everyday life. I’m now lucky enough to have Flossie and Nellie, my two dogs, and Poppie and Rorie, my two cats.

Most of my time is spent surrounded by four-legged friends, between my own pets and my pet care business, Xolo Dogs. It’s a job I absolutely love, and I’ve learnt so much over the years about what makes a happy dog, a happy owner and, most importantly, great pet care.

That’s a huge part of why The Bark Mark means so much to me. I know first-hand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pets, and I want to help make that process easier for other dog owners.

After all, our pets aren’t just pets... they’re family.
